EMDR stand for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

The foundations for EMDR as a method were outlined by Francine Shapiro in 1987. EMDR is a fast and effective healing method, in which eye movements can help to heal suppressed memories and unprocessed events, without everlasting talking sessions. EMDR can provide a solutions in PTSD cases (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), behavioral problems, anxiety attacks, phobias, addictions and other more common complaints as stress, moodiness, sleep- and concentration disturbance, all of which are the result of a stressful event.

EMDR is applied to help to stimulate the ‘information management system’ in the brain to access the acceptance of stressful events through the selfhealing power of the brain. The client thinks/focuses on the unprocessed event and makes meanwhile eye-movements, stimulating both brainhalfs separately and thus making them work together better.

The purpose of the treatment is to make the client think back at the original event without causing the tension of the event. One comes free of the emotion and the automatic reaction that the memory calls forth. The originally stressful event is processed or integrated as well as all experiences and triggering mechanisms that were caused by it.

TFT: Thought Field Therapy PDF Print E-mail

TFT was developed by the America psychologist Dr. Roger Callehan, whose rich experience dates from the sixties of the 20th century. His life’s work was helping people through their anxieties.

The name “Thought Field Therapy” is based on the relationship between our thoughts and the energy field in our body. TFT makes use of little knocking techniques on several places of our body, which concur with acupuncture points and beginning and endpoints of the meridians.

TFT reveals a code for the selfhealing power of body and mind. The energy flow of the body is balanced. A lot of negative emotions can be solved in only a few minutes time.

EFT: Emotional Freedom Techniques PDF Print E-mail
EFT was developed in the 90’s by Gary Graig, one of Dr.Callahan’s students. Through research he combined 13 of the energypoints of TFT into a simple method, applicable by anyone, not needing a complex therapy plan or diagnose. It’s not about becoming emotionless, but to become “free in emotions”. EFT is to be called ‘a revolution in the treating of painful emotions” EFT is especially effective in the treatment of traumas and anxieties, but can also work for depressions, addictions and physical symptoms as pain and breathing problems. The therapist applies EFT in a session, but learns the patient how to apply this technique to him/herself. In this way a patient acquires an adequate tool to help him/herself.
